Prelude

Two years ago, our father, a member of the artistic and spiritual constellation of the Armenian Diaspora, passed away in France. As a man of medicine, the arts, and a proud conservateur of the cultural inheritance he lived by, Keghart left the undeniable mark of his passage upon generations of Armenians from the Middle East to Western Europe.

Interestingly, while he wrote, struggled for, and lived by his Armenian identity and dreams of our motherland, Keghart never had the opportunity to visit Armenia. He died almost as a spectator watching a history he was part in making, although often in the background, as a dentist during the day, a philosopher at night, but always a poet at heart.

We wanted to start a Blog that captures some of our father’s character. Much has been written about his as the man; about his poetry, his fables, his prose and his extraordinary oratory skills. His published works can be found in libraries, and in many private collections of Armenian Diaspora testimonies. Finally, now on the Internet, one can find postings about him and his work, representing personal impressions or memories.

We want to do something more personal, intime, and perhaps little-known about our father on this Blog. We are not sure yet how it will shape up, nor do we know what direction things will take us. But we would give it a try. In this process, if you would like to participate in the postings or have suggestions, please write to Vahe.
